In 2022, NNEMoCA announced three short-term and intermediate goals:

  1. The acquisition of a Collection Management System (CMS) software package and the migration of the considerable data consisting of over 20,000 images and approximately 50,000 items, comprising the inventory of art objects and the reference library at NNEMoCA;

  2. The creation and staging of exhibitions of two kinds: programs created by independent curators working with our collections here, and legacy exhibitions of regional artists whose works, though largely Under Known, were of cultural, aesthetic, technical, or other significance, and

  3. The creation of an online tool which would allow the public to access the entirety of our holdings — an online museum, and

  4. Providing schools with an opportunity to have students engage in art from a different perspective than that which is typically provided. Not everyone is comfortable making art, but they can still engage in a creative process by putting together their own exhibition(s) by curating a show online using works from NNEMoCA’s Collection. We wouldn't want children and young adults to grow up believing that visual art is “not for them” simply because they didn't gravitate to making art. There are many ways to engage with creativity. Finished projects would be presented as online exhibitions with some of the best results becoming physical pop-up exhibitions. These will enable those students opportunities to interact with original artworks.

We indicated that we believed that we could accomplish these tasks within 18 months of them being fully funded.

We are pleased to announce that we are about 50% of the way to this funding threshold!
