The Collection at NNEMoCA

The Collection contains over 31,000 contemporary art works from 1963 to present, a 20,000-volume reference library, and 50,000 items of ephemera all related to the visual arts. The Collection is comprised primarily of works on paper, artists’ multiples, artists’ books, zines, and artistamps. There are well over 2,600 paintings and sculpture primarily in storage. The Collection represents 40% Vermont content with approximately 90% of the works by living artists. 

A diversity of artists are represented in The Collection, including artists who identify as: Indigenous, African, African-American, Latinx, Asian, Asian-American, LGBTQ, non-binary, cisgender, pangender, and more.

The Collection is primarily housed in Burlington, Vermont, while a portion of the collection is located in Barre, Vermont. Viewing and tours by appointment. 

As a collecting 501(c)3, NNEMoCA offers collections a long-term home. Committed to the legacy of artists, NNEMoCA is exploring the collection and care of artists’ works in perpetuity. Artists and artists’ estates that wish to be considered should contact NNEMoCA.The museum cannot, at this time, consider Legacy projects without funds to ensure their long-term care.
